DISCIPLESHIP - Ministries of the Congregation A. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The officers of the congregation and the pastor shall constitute the Executive Committee (cf. Sec. 8.A bylaws). B. NOMINATING COMMITTEE: A nominating committee shall consist of all outgoing members of the church council and the president. C. AUDIT COMMITTEE: An audit committee of three voting members shall be appointed by the president. Audit committee members shall not be members of the church council. Term of office will be three years with one member appointed each year. Members shall not succeed themselves (cf. Sec. 8.C, bylaws). D. PASTOR/PARISH COMMITTEE: A pastor/parish committee (in the absence of the pastor/parish committee, their duties shall be fulfilled by the executive committee) of six members of the congregation shall be appointed jointly by the president and the pastor. Term of office shall be two years, three members to be appointed each successive year. E. CALL COMMITTEE: A call committee of six voting members is nominated by the church council and elected by the congregation when a pastoral vacancy occurs. Term of office will terminate at installation of the newly called pastor. F. Duties of congregational committees shall be specified in the bylaws.
Other congregational committees may be formed as the need arises by decision of the executive committee; e.g., building, anniversary.
COMMITTEES OF THE CHURCH COUNCIL 1. WORSHIP AND MUSIC: The committee on worship and music shall provide for an active and meaningful worship life for every member of the congregation, giving special attention to the liturgical year. 2. STEWARDSHIP: The committee on stewardship shall lead the congregation to be biblical stewards through their proportionate giving of time, abilities, and money as they have been given. 3. EDUCATION: The committee on education shall offer learning opportunities for members of all ages to nurture their faith in Christ; supervise the Sunday school and/or day school. 4. OUTREACH: The committee on outreach (church and society, social ministry) shall plan and lead the evangelical and social outreach of the congregation with needs assessment, education, service, and direct or indirect action programs, a high priority for the congregation. 5. BUILDING AND GROUNDS: The committee on building and grounds shall manage the buildings and property and supervise the budget process of the congregation. 6. PASTOR/PARISH: The pastor/parish committee shall develop and recommend the personnel policies of the congregation for its pastoral, program, and support staff. 7. LIFE AND GROWTH: Activities to be defined by the Life & Growth committee. 8. The church council may form other committees and task forces as the need requires from within or outside its membership (cf. Art. X.A.4.C, constitution). 9. Each committee shall elect its own chairperson as approved by the church council for a term of two years. 10. Committee chairpersons will furnish written minutes and resolutions for action proposed to the church council. 11. Committee guidelines shall be maintained by each committee and approved by the Church Council.
