SUNDAY SCHOOL CORNER We are currently starting to plan for the fall Sunday School year. We are in need of volunteers to teach or assist with our Sunday lessons. If you or someone you know are interested please contact Pastor Jon or a member of the Christian Ed Committee.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Christmas Program Planning Begins….
It is time to start the plans for the annual Christmas program done by the great kids in our Sunday School. The program will be held on Sunday, December 21st. We will begin to practice the music on Sunday mornings beginning November 9th. We will then add the reading parts to the practice starting November 23rd. Please let Tammy Weiss or Janice Vollmert know if your kids can be a part of the Christmas program this year. There will be parts for Mary, Joseph, shepherds, angels, and the three wise men. All kinds of voices are needed to sing the wonderful songs of the Christmas season. The more children we have the better this event will be for everyone.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CORNER
Another year of Sunday School has already started…where has the summer gone? This year is off to a great start. It is wonderful to see so many faces, both old and new. The success of our program depends on the participation of our families, so we need all of you!
We have started out by having large group Sunday School for the first five weeks and we hope the kids are enjoying our themes, crafts, stories and songs. Beginning Sunday, October 12, we will be splitting up into classrooms. There will be a combined 4 year old and Kindergarten room, a 1st grade through 3rd grade classroom and a 4th and 5th grade combined classroom.
The two older classrooms will begin the year working through the God and Country workbooks. This is a program of age-appropriate activities where your child can earn an award for completing a booklet. We will be completing various activities in the classroom, but there will be additional assignments that will need to be completed at home in order for the child to earn the award. There is no requirement to complete the additional work – but it is available for those children and families who want to earn this honor. The student will be able to participate in Sunday School each week whether or not they complete the additional requirements at home.
We have also decided that the Sunday School offering this year will go towards the Heifer Project. Students will get to decide what their offerings will purchase, depending on the amount of money collected. We hope this will be a fun way for the children to share what they have been given.
The Christian Ed committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. We are always looking for new members and new ideas. Hope to see you there!

God and Country – A special program for advanced spiritual growth for children and their parents. (See next article for more information.) To get started contact Pastor Jon about ordering the workbook (currently $3.50). After you receive the workbook your child can work with you to complete the project described in the book or your child can work with another person called a counselor. The counselor is chosen by the parents and approved by the pastor. When the child completes the project in the workbook they present their project to the pastor for approval. After approval a form found in the back of the workbook is sent into PRAY publishing for a certificate and medal. Parents who would like to be more involved can order a mentor workbook. The mentor book includes adult projects that help the parent and child connect as the child completes the project. The mentor who completes the workbook will also receive a certificate and medal. If you would like to grow a strong spiritual foundation for your child and self, please consider the God and Country.
God and Country Study awards program Want a way to grow with your child in faith? Want something more for your child? Want to understand your child? Try this, it WORKS! God and Me (Grades 1-3) Children will become best friends with Jesus and tell their story of “God and Me” together. Children will make a game in each lesson and keep their games in a GAMEBOX (God And Me Exploring BOX). These games will reinforce the Bible lessons and provide opportunities for families to explore God’s love together. God and Family (Grades 4-5) The God and Family program will help children understand the importance of family and God’s role in a healthy family. Children will compare families and “pizza,” and they will make a pizza as they study how families can grow together in God’s love. God and Church (Grades 6-8) The God and Church program will be a journey to meet Jesus, worship God, and witness and minister for Christ. Participants will create a video or a photo album to share their faith journeys with others. God and Life (Grades 9-12) The God and Life study is based on the life of the Apostle Paul as recorded in Acts 9:1-31. Starting the Program is Easy!• Meet with the Pastor Jon, order the appropriate God and Country booklets, and together choose a counselor. • Complete the requirements under the supervision of your counselor. • Present your work to the pastor for final approval. • Order the recognition items by sending the application form to P.R.A.Y. Education Committee will pay for the award. • Plan a special ceremony in church to receive your award. More info at www.praypub.org
